Anniversaries

Craig, I know you have some days

When you just lose your rag.

You tell me I don’t listen

And that I’m such a nag!

But there’s lots inside my head

It’s chocca block in here

It’s not done to annoy you

Or make you say ‘Yes dear’.

You chose me as your wife, you see

So you have yourself to blame.

I’d like to think you feel quite glad

That I now have your name?

For whether I can make you smile

Or smirk, or grimace too

There’s got to be a little part

That’s glad you said ‘I do’...

...and it goes on...

Fathers' Day

Dad, you know what I will say

I say it every year

If I could dream the perfect Dad,

Then there you would appear!

You’re like the genie of the lamp

I make a wish, you’re there

Whatever worries I might have

I always know you’ll care.

For tax returns and work problems

For school stuff I must write

For covering letters or advice

Your view I will invite.

Above all what I do adore

Is that you never judge

Your love is neverending

It’s a rock that just won’t budge.

And mine too is forever

For yes, you’re stuck, you see

So Happy Fathers’ Day, my Dad

From your favourite daughter - ME!

... and it continues...

Another thing, personally, I will so miss

Is Christmas cake – wow you were good making this!

I’ve not tasted better from anyone EVER

A real taste sensation to savour forever!

You always said I looked so happy and cheery

Even when life turned decidedly teary

You loved both my children like grandparents do

And they always loved all their time spent with you!

And James always felt you were welcoming, kind

Of his own grandparents you’d often remind

And now here in Salisbury they too came to rest

So clearly you’re here where the company’s best!

But memories live on in the photos we took

So many good times, we have only to look

And we’ll see what a part of our lives you became

For all of us, it will not be quite the same.

Funerals/memories...
